    hey, as northwest oregon is poised to see the hottest and driest temperatures in history over the next few days, could i request that anyone with the means donate a couple bucks to our streets PDX?

    they’re an organization that does the immediate and life-saving work of handing out water to homeless people in the city. not everyone in a homeless encampment will have the means to get to a cooling shelter (though the metro area DOES have several cooling shelters set up, which i’m very grateful for). the volunteer network has been working all day to distribute water today and are going to keep working through the weekend as long as supplies last. supplies will last longer with donations

    the need is urgent as temperatures are poised to reach 115F.

    bottled water is cheap and the impact of just a dollar is Immediate.

    Who else knows what the GQP will do with those lists. Will they try to blackball progressive faculty, staff and students?

    This feels like the McCarthy era all over again. The courts must strike this down.

    Lol they’ve realized they can use “woke” language to manipulate y’all into accepting almost anything.

    They know if they convince y’all talking about climate change is racist the majority of left leaning people will shut the hell up because they’re afraid of having a wrong opinion.

    It’s actually so fucked up how the language of oppressed people to describe their reality has been stolen and is used as just another manipulative tool to push almost any agenda.

    Hawai'i is literally flooding right now, amidst a spike in covid cases. Native Hawaiians, indigenous people, are the first to suffer from the climate change they did not cause. Climate Anxiety is NOT an overwhelmingly white phenomenon.

    ANYWAY. Here is an article Ben & Jerry’s put out. It describes how climate change issues disproportionately affect Black and Brown Communities. There is a link to a petition in here that it would be lovely if people could sign. It affects the United States, but you don’t have to be a US Citizen to sign it.
