    Every time I get groceries I’m always appalled at how little you can get for like, $20. I was making banana pudding so I needed vanilla wafers but the brand name nilla wafers cost $4 a box. The minimum wage in my state is $7.25/hr. My friend put it really well when he said “imagine you work for an hour and someone hands you two boxes of nilla wafers and said ‘actually this is a bit more than what I owe you’”

    How are some of y’all missing the point so bad. “Shop at aldi instead” “make your own food” “don’t buy brand name” “don’t buy unhealthy processed food” It’s not about the box of cookies. This is about how minimum wage pays peanuts and has stagnated for 12 years while the cost of living keeps growing. No one wants your financial advice about how to survive on beans and rice and frozen veggies. The smartest grocery list in the world is not gonna help you budget your way out of poverty. Please get a grip for the love of god

    this is so cute. I love the butcher chatting away and the cat responding, him pulling out a package of meat and showing it, just like he’s dealing with any customer.

    A bitter sweet update to this video, the cat passed away :(

    But there is a silver lining. The Butcher, sad and despondent took her body in and buried in his garden in a little grave.

    One of the funniest failures of US school system is the fact they are legally obligated to teach us all the states but they never actually show how big Alaska is like I have actually had teachers tell me that Texas is the biggest state. We have all just convinced ourselves that Alaska is that small shrunken down thing on most US maps and the people that know it’s the largest state can almost never accurately describe how large it is.

    It has a national park that’s bigger than maine. Or Switzerland. A park. 

    I lived in Alaska for two years and I will never get over the sheer overwhelming bigness of it.

    Nights where the sky is clear you can see clusters of stars or the Northern Lights dancing. When the lights are rippling especially strong and fast you can hear a static crackle in the air. When the moon is out after it’s snowed, you don’t need flashlights to see. Everything glows and glimmers like polished quartz.  

    But when the sky is clouded over so you can’t see the stars, you can kind of almost sense the mountains towering over you and helping to block out the light, these giant monoliths acting like this void darker than your soul. I’ve never experience night like Alaska night. 

    Everything is big, the mountains, the sky, the valleys. 

    And the dark.

    URGENT HELP NEED

    The eviction moratorium have been ended by the Supreme Court, and our landlords are stalking the house where we have been squatting.

    We had another donations post going but we’re making another because the others died.

    My roomate and I are queer, mentally ill and disabled. He is indigenous, and I am visibly trans. We have no money, and we’re looking for options desperately. We have a rental assistance program we can apply for when we find a place but until then, we are fucked. We can’t go to my family because of abuse, and his family told us they’d rather watch us die than help.

    Until we can get something more permanent we’re still trying to borrow an RV but we need money to rent a space to put the RV.

    We also need food, medications, and water.

    Please, if you can donate at all, anything is appreciated. If anyone donates more than $50 my roomate will draw one of your pets within 2 weeks. Obviously we can’t promise drawings immediately since we’re disabled and grasping at straws to try to survive, but he will do them as he can.

    We are still squatting in the house despite legal no protections, and the landlords showed up today. We got them to leave by lying our asses off, but we need help asap.

    We really need to get the storage facility bill paid off so that our shit isn’t auctioned. Please reblog this. The storage facility has all I have left of my dead dad’s stuff.

    We were just served a warrant of removal. We have to be out by Monday. We need help urgently. Please share this. We need money for housing and I’ll be trying to work something out in the coming days.
