*~PinKAmYcaKeS~* just–space: The Hercules Cluster of Galaxies : These are galaxies of the Hercules Cluster, an archipelago of island universes a mere 500 million light-years away. Also known as Abell 2151, this cluster is loaded with gas and dust rich, star-forming spiral galaxies but has relatively few elliptical galaxies, which lack gas and dust and the associated newborn stars. The colors in this deep composite image clearly show the star forming galaxies with a blue tint and galaxies with older stellar populations with a yellowish cast. The sharp picture spans about ½ degree across the cluster center, corresponding to over 4 million light-years at the cluster’s estimated distance. Diffraction spikes around brighter foreground stars in our own Milky Way galaxy are produced by the imaging telescope’s mirror support vanes. In the cosmic vista many galaxies seem to be colliding or merging while others seem distorted - clear evidence that cluster galaxies commonly interact. In fact, the Hercules Cluster itself may be seen as the result of ongoing mergers of smaller galaxy clusters and is thought to be similar to young galaxy clusters in the much more distant, early Universe. via NASA

(via trashzy-deactivated20211214) (via jetix) creek-nymph: Hello I have gotten myself into an incredibly stupid situation. A stray kitten that’s been hanging around bit me on the arm today and I’m extremely worried about rabies. Unfortunately the human shot for it is extremely expensive and the health dept is flooded with covid cases and doesn’t know when they can get to me, even if we can afford the shots. I have two other options. Call animal control so we can figure out how to get the kitten tested (which it wouldn’t survive) or they can do a blood test to test for antibodies to see if the kitten has had a rabies vaccine recently (strong possibility because it has an ear notch and it’s young) The blood test is $300. I can technically wait and see if the kitten shows signs but by the time it does, if it does, it could already be fatal to me. This whole thing was just a huge mistake on my part and I really don’t want a kitten to have to die because of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve never felt more sick and nervous in my life. ko-fi link paypal : miss.padfoot@yahoo.com

(via stroebe2) that90ssmshow: Ed Asner 1929-2021You may know Ed Asner as the voice of J Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Carl in Pixar’s Up, or Ed Wuncler in The Boondocks. An accomplished actor both as a voice artist and on the screen, he was best known for his work in the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Lou Grant, Roots and Rich Man Poor Man. But his accomplishments off screen are worth highlighting. Asner was president of the Screen Actors Guild and committed socialist, fighting for worker rights throughout his life despite its effect on his personal career. His activism was widespread, including campaigning and supporting healthcare, free speech rights to comic book creators, providing emergency aid to elderly and impoverished Holocaust survivors in Eastern Europe, wildlife conservation, specialised education for those on the autism spectrum, providing water for undocumented migrants to prevent deaths by dehydration and exposure, and fighting HIV/AIDS denialism. I am glad that we could spend so much time enjoying his work. He will be missed but his impact will still be felt for years to come.
