    I change it about every three days, more often when it is really warm. Once it looks “cloudy”, it is time. The problem is not just that the nectar might spoil, but mold can develop in the crevices and ports. This can be harmful to lethal for hummers. I have a little brush for the ports, take the bee guards off and clean those too, and wash the feeder with vinegar every so often to prevent that. Right now you might also see less activity because they are nesting and flowers have begun to emerge. Please also avoid the red stuff from the store. Hummingbird nectar is easy to make and can be stored in the fridge. One part cane sugar, four parts water is all you need.
