    What is bokeh?

Bokeh, derived from the Japanese word, boke, meaning haze or blur, is the artistic blur of a photo — parts of the image that lie out of the depth of field.

It is usually an effect that’s meant to be visually pleasing, thus often giving photographs a dreamlike, disorienting, hazed-induced and sometimes even nostalgic quality.

Parts or the entirety of the photo can be creatively blurred for aesthetic purposes.
