thesmallest—deactivated2011030:

I found her in a small space under my air conditioner by herself. She didn’t have any feathers when I found her and her mother wasn’t coming back. I made her a mini nest in a box and gave her water and food. For the first 2 days she was fussy with me but eventually got used to me feeding her. She would wake me up at 5 or 6 every morning expecting food because her mouth was always open. All she did was eat and poop and chirp loudly. So finally when she had feathers and she had actual wings, I would throw her in the air gently so that she would use her wings to fly and she did, except she flew on my shoulder and shit herself. I actually gave her mini baths, which she enjoyed too much. One day when I came home after going out for an hour, she was sitting at the window sell lookining outside. As soon as she saw me, she started chirping. So this is where the hard part comes in; after feeding her for the last time, I took her outside and assumed that she would take off, but she didn’t. She just stood there looking at me and started chirping, which made letting her go even harder to do. I gently threw her in the air and she flew off. At first she didn’t know where to fly but eventually found her way. Before winter came, she used to visit me often.

I know that all birds look and sound similar, but I’ve been with her long enough to no know the difference between her and some other birds.

*BTW her name is Olive and this picture was taken before I let her go.
