    Man Bowie has some weird-ass eyes. You can’t see it normally but the dark brown inner ring of the iris makes it look like she has huge pupils all the time.

    Meanwhile Ziggy has these soft very dark brown eyes that usually appear black.

    Usually the dimorphism between sexes isn’t that extreme. Bowie has very light eyes even for a female.

    Here’s Pepper’s eye for a comparison. She’s a female European starling

    Now that’s more what I’d expect for a female! I dunno what’s up with Bowie’s eyes being so light, but it makes her look both cursed and cute. Blursed if you will.

    I’m thinking of compiling a post showcasing the range of sexual dimorphism in starlings. It’s something I find very interesting especially now that I can observe it firsthand.
