I was attracted to this colorful house in Chicago, even though the paint is a little worse for wear. The house, built in 1891, looked to me like it had been some sort of a group home with offices, craft rooms, etc. But, according to the ad, it was owned by a family for 47 yrs., and known as the “Candyland House.”

Apparently, they personalized it, and made it a work of art, but they actually did live here. I just adore the pastels in the old house. Look at the pink & blue kitchen- I’ve never seen pink tiles.

It’s so weird, though. Clearly a DIY thing- look at the homemade table and benches.

This tri-color pastel floor is unusual, too.

See what I mean? Doesn’t it look more like a group home or something other than a family home? It’s just so unique.

I love the living room, though. This pink loveseat faces a flat screen and just look at the piano, the peachy color, etc.

This is why I thought it was some sort of business- desks and office equipment have been left behind.

The home is so old and it appears that the only improvement it’s had over the 47 yrs. was pastel paint.

Not that the painting wasn’t a lot of work. Look at the upstairs hall.

This is a room that opens out to a deck or stairs. Unfortunately, the floor paint didn’t hold up very well.

This little room is clearly a home office.

The bath is kinda cute. That tile is cool.

For some reason, they completely gutted and redid the attic, and put in a bathroom, but didn’t enclose it.

This area has a bright workshop and loft space that looks like it was used for art.

There’s a powder room here, too.

The upper deck needs a power wash and maybe a coat of darker paint.

The lower deck looks like it’s been replaced and has a cool tree growing thru it.

I don’t know what attracts me to this house, but it’s just sort of cute. It was listed for $524,900 and someone bought it. I’d love to see what they do with it.
